Day 9: Portland to Port Fairy

Port Fairy |
This morning I decided instead of having my breakfast at the campsite, I'd find a picnic area along the way. Found this nice area with views along the coast I'd be cycling later. Weather is certainly a lot more overcast than yesterday. The forecast says it might rain this afternoon.
After breakfast I cycled along the road next to the coast instead of taking the main road. Was very enjoyable. After about 10km I rejoined the Princes Hwy. As it was a Sunday morning the traffic was pretty light. Plus I had a nice shoulder and a tailwind for most of the ride to Port Fairy.
I got to Port Fairy at about 12pm. As it looked like storms this afternoon and the campsite was more expensive than the hostel, I'm staying at the local YHA. I've stayed here before and it is quite a well maintained hostel.
After I settled into my accommodation it started to rain. So I went to get some lunch. Port Fairy is a small town, which has lots of nice cafes and shops.
After lunch I went for a walk to the Harbour and the island where there are breeding birds nesting. I then of course relaxed.
Tomorrow I'll be heading towards the Great Ocean Road. Hoping the weather stays good, as looking at the forecast for the next few days there are meant to be a few showers.
