Day 7: Denman to Singleton
|
Yesterday afternoon I got to meet my first cycle tourists on this trip. Brita and Claire started in Lithgow a couple of days after I started and came a slightly different way to Denman. We got chatting about bikes and touring and decided to go to the local pub for dinner.
This morning we decided we'd ride together, as we were all going to Singleton. We left Denman just before 8am and again followed some nice quiet country roads for the first 35kms. We then rejoined the Golden Hwy at Jerrys Plains. We stopped here to regroup and have a quick bite to eat.
After our stop we continued on to Singleton. We passed a couple of large coal mines on our way into Singleton. When we got to our destination, we stopped at the shops to get some provisions to take to the camp site, which is 2kms north of town. The camp site is very pleasant and has a pool which I may use later.
It was interesting having a couple of cycle buddies for my trip today. As we would wait for each other at a certain spot, which meant we could all ride at our own pace. Later on today, we wil be riding back to Singleton to look at the sights. We noticed on our way in it has the largest sun dial in the world!!
