Day 6: Blayney to Canowindra
|
After breakfast, I was riding just after 8am. Currently sunrise isn't until after 7am, so I get a nice sleep in each morning. The weather is nice and cool and sunny. So I followed the back roads through various farms. After about 20kms I stopped to have a quick break. Whilst having a drink, this farmer stopped on his quad bike. He was planning on setting up a farmstay, as he keeps on seeing cyclists pass through. He also has another farm on the road I was on yesterday.
I then continued my ride to Canowindra. The ride from Blayney to Canowindra is mostly downhill. So I got to Canowindra at about 12.30pm.
Canowindra is a reasonable size town. It has a museum which has a display of 300 million year old fishes which were found in the area. The town itself has a few old pubs and shops. I stopped at one of the pubs for lunch.
After lunch I decided to stop here for the night. It was nice to give the legs a rest for the afternoon.
Once all setup I went for a walk to the Museum of Fishes. Got to watch an exclusive 8 minute video on how they found the 300 million year old fishes. They found 1000s of fishes, so the town is now famous for these fossilized fishes. After the museum I had a walk around the town and then headed back to the campsite.
Today the weather was just perfect for riding. Tomorrow I'll be heading towards Forbes and Parkes.
