Last night I was up quite late chatting to some of the people staying here. It's a very friendly place. This morning I was still able to get up at 6am. It is very windy outside. No rain, yet. It is so nice and warm inside. I might skip the lighthouse, as I've been there before. It is really nice, but the weather isn't the greatest.
A nice, empty road to start the day

I left the hostel at 7.30am. It was still very windy, but at least it wasn't raining. I skipped the lighthouse and followed the main road for about 10kms. I took a shortcut across a couple of country lanes. These were great as passed a lot of dairy and sheep farms. Also there was no traffic and it saved me about 5km of cycling. It then started to rain. The rain seemed to last for about 5 minutes and then stop for 10.

I went passed where I would have camped near Alexandra Bridge. The location looked nice but was very wet from the rain. About 5kms away I stopped at the community hall to eat and relax under shelter. As I don't think there are many spots along the way with shelter.

I followed the Stuart Highway towards Pemberton. Traffic was extremely light. On average a vehicle went passed every 20-30 minutes. The road went through national park. It looked like there had been a fire here, as a lot of the tree trunks were black. The forest then gave way to a wetland type area. Could hear frogs crocking for the next 10kms!

A forest regrowing after fire

At about 35kms before Pemberton, I stopped at a rest area to have some lunch. Just when I pulled in the sun came out. So I got to enjoy a very pleasant lunch. Once I finished and got back on the bike it started raining again. It was the first time I felt cold, but thankfully there was a small hill to warm me up.

The last 20kms into Pemberton took me through farms and Karri forests. There were a series of rolling hills which I enjoyed. I took a small detour to Beedulup falls. The falls were quite nice. I actually enjoyed the little suspension bridge more though.

The bridge across the falls was fun

Once I finished at the falls I rode into Pemberton. I arrived just before 4pm. Pemberton is a timber town. It is a pretty town surrounded by forests and farms.

An old train at Pemberton

Today's ride has been the longest so far for the trip. The weather in the end decided to turn nice. So I hope it lasts through until tomorrow.
