Day 31 - Venus Bay to Elliston
|
Once more when I woke up I was greeted by a gorgeous sunrise. I've certainly been spoilt with sunrises and great locations. Today I have a couple of different final destinations to choose from. So will decide as I go. That's one of the fun things about carrying all your own stuff, you can decide where you want to put up camp.
I left camp just after 7.30am. The weather is a little overcast, but I don't think it'll rain. When I rejoined the main road it was of course almost devoid of traffic.
The road goes over a series of rolling hills. Which was great, as at the top of each hill I would have a great view across farmland to the big sand dunes which run along side the coast. About 60kms I decided to take a slight detour to view the coast. This detour took me to Anxious Bay. Was of course very nice and the sun came out when I got there.
Afterwards I rode into a small coastal town called Elliston. Elliston, like every other town in SA has a jetty. Must be a compulsory thing to have one!
Riding through the small town I found a nice little bakery. So of course I needed to sample what they had. One meat pie, vanilla slice and cappuccino later I was very relaxed. I had decided that I liked this town a lot and will be staying for the night at the caravan park.
It's really nice to have a shortish ride day. As I got to have a nice leisurely stroll around the town and found that the town has the largest mural in Australia. After, I had a walk down to the beach.
The sun came out in the afternoon, so it was great to enjoy that as well. Tomorrow I'm not sure on the final destination, will see what I find along the way.
