Day 3: Milang to Long Point, Coorong National Park
|
Well as soon as the sun set last night, armies of Mosquitos appeared. They sounded like mini fighter jets. Thankfully I had my mosquito spray which kept them under control. I woke up to a lovely sunrise this morning. So I took my breakfast to the shoreline and watched sunrise. A great way to start the day.
I left Milang at around 7.30am and followed the road around the lake. The roads were as usual really quiet and now also very flat. I headed towards Wellington, which is about 45kms away. I arrived at about 10am. Wellington is another small town. I stopped at the servo for a bit to eat, refill my water bottles and again get a bit of food for later. As there are not many places to stop between here and my destination for the night. So far the wind hasn't been to bad, fingers crossed for a tailwind.
After I went across the river on the ferry and turned onto the Princes Hwy, I noticed I had a nice tailwind. So the next 50kms didn't take too long. My destination for the day was Long Point in the Coorong National Park. The Coorong is a long thin stretch of sand dunes and coastal lakes. When I arrived at the campsite I noticed I had it all to myself. So I picked a spot with great water views.
The rest of the afternoon I just relaxed and had a look around. It also started to rain a little, which was very refreshing. Today's ride was once again a lot of fun. Felt strange not climbing any hills for such a long time. But it was a nice change, plus having the tailwind which I wasn't expecting.
