Day 2: Rylstone to Mudgee
|
Well had a really good sleep after yesterday's long ride. Went to have breakfast in town. As I was walking into town, there were council workers everywhere mowing the grass. Rylstone is a really well kept town and the locals are very friendly.
Whilst I was packing the tent away I noticed the wind had picked up. Looked up to see which way the clouds were moving, they were blowing towards Mudgee. Was on the road at about 10am.
The ride went passed a number of farms and over a series of rolling hills. Thanks to a nice tail wind and a slight downhill gradient, the 50+kms to Mudgee took just over two hours. As I was approaching Mudgee the farms started to change to vineyards. Mudgee is a major wine growing region in NSW.
When I got to Mudgee I stopped at the tourist office to see where I could camp. Mudgee has three caravan parks. I decided to stay at the one next to the river, which is a short walk to the town centre. The town is the major centre for the region, thus has all the usual shops and stuff. Will be staying here a couple of nights to have a look around. Tomorrow I will be checking out the Farmers Market, which is held once a month. I also checked the weather forecast for the next seven days, looks like it'll be sunny. Just hope it doesn't get to warm.
