Day 2: McLaren Vale to Milang

Useful Resources
Milang |
It rained a little overnight. When I woke up, at about 5.30, it was grey but not raining. So I packed my stuff away and had breakfast. I was back on the cycle trail at about 7.30am and heading for Victor Harbour.
As I approached Willunga I began my climb up Willunga Hill. This hill is used as part of the Tour Down Under each year. As I was slowly climbing the hill I noticed a lot of writing on the road from the last tour encouraging the riders. I was pleased I climbed it this morning as opposed to yesterday. It was so much cooler and pleasant to ride.

Almost at the top of the hill |
Once I got to the top I decided to take mostly back roads to Victor Harbour. There were a couple more small hills I had to climb, but then mostly downhill to Victor Harbour. By taking the back roads I think I saw just 2-3 cars.
I arrived at Victor Harbour just after 10am. The town is a very pleasant seaside town. It has a jetty which takes you to the island and there is usually a tram which travels along it. So I stopped here for my second coffee of the day and bought a bit of food for dinner.

Looking back towards Victor Harbour |
When I left Victor Harbour the weather was looking a little less grey than this morning. I followed this cycle path for about 15km, then I followed more quiet country roads which went past a number of vineyards. I arrived at Milang at about 2pm.
Milang is a very small town on the coast. Not much to do here expect for relaxing. So that is what I'll be doing this afternoon. Today's ride varied a lot, from the hills in the morning, to the very flat country roads in the afternoon. Will be heading towards the Corong tomorrow. Looks like I'll be in for a bit of a head wind for at least the next couple of days.
