Day 12 - Fitzgerald River RS to Munglinup roadhouse
|
This morning it was very calm and misty. Was able to get up early and started pedaling just before 7.30am. As am hoping to cover a few kms today.
About 80kms after I left camp, I came into Ravensthorpe. Which is a small town in the region. Stopped here for a bite to eat before continuing.
The weather is a little overcast and my tailwind from yesterday is still there, just not as strong. Yesterday and today are the first days I've noticed the towns are getting smaller and less frequent. Since leaving Albany I've been carrying my own food to cover me until I get to Esperance. This is in part so that I can have an idea on how much stuff I need to take from Norseman and across to Ceduna.
I stopped riding today when I got to Munglinup, which is no more than a roadhouse. But you can camp next to the park for free and there is water, BBQs and shelter. So not a bad place to stop. When I pulled in some of the grey nomads I've been seeing the last few days pulled in as well. They're a very friendly bunch.
Today has been a long day in the saddle. I did this to give me a little more time for later on in the trip, plus it is meant to rain at Esperance on Sunday. Should mean I'll miss the bad weather. But even though the ride was long, the scenery was always changing every few kms. From bushland, to farmland and even some mining. Also this time of year there is a showing of native flowers all along the verge, which adds a bit of colour to the day.
