Day 10: Thredbo to Cooma
|
After two days of walks and relaxing in Thredbo, it was time to move on. Was really impressed with the Yha in Thredbo. Was very friendly and spacious. Would certainly stay there again.
I left the hostel just before 9am. Thankfully the rain and wind that had been around for the last couple of days was gone this morning. The ride to Jindabyne was mostly downhill.
When I got to Jindabyne, I found the local bakery for breakfast. Jindabyne is located next to a lake. The lake was created as part of the Snowy Project. As a result of the creation of this lake, the original township of Jindabyne had to be relocated. It is mainly used as a service town for the ski resorts and people go fishing on the lake.
After breakfast I continued my ride to Cooma. The ride was pretty uneventful along undulating roads. There is a lack of trees around here compared to my rides over the last few days. I rode into Cooma at around 2.30pm. Stopped for lunch and then found a cheap motel in the centre of town. Not that many things in Cooma to see. It is more of a service town for the local farms and the Snowy Hydro Electric Company is based here.
Tonight will be going out for dinner. Tomorrow I'll have breakfast at the hotel (which is included in the $40 price). So hopefully will be on the road by 7.30am. Will be cycling towards Bungendore mostly along the Monaro Highway.
