Day 10: Relaxing by the lake
|
Well before I went to bed last night I went for a little walk. In one of the trees close to my tent I found I've got a small neighbour. Have a look at the picture below to see who it is.
It was really windy outside last night, but I still had a good sleep. When I got up this morning it was still windy. Don't mind the wind here, as it keeps it a little cooler and also keeps the bugs away. Fired up the camping stove to have my breakfast.
After my feast, I went for a walk around part of the lake. The walk goes through a lot of forest, which is mainly made up of paperbark and strangler fig trees. You can also see a lot of banana and plum trees. As before this area became a national park it was used to grow fruit between the 1930-1960's. My walk took me to a small inlet which is still used for prawn farming. The walk was nice and scenic. There were a lot of lizards about. When they heard my big feet they would usually run up the nearest tree.
I got back from my walk at about 1pm. I got my chair and found a nice shady spot under a paperbark tree next to the lake. I then had my lunch and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.
Tomorrow I'll be leaving and catching the ferry across to Port Stephens. There is meant to be a change (rain) in the weather in next couple of days. I guess I have had great weather for all the trip so far, so I can't complain.
